For a third consecutive year Care Home Catering, in association with Kerrymaid and Bidfood, is searching for the care home that best recognises the importance of food when it comes to their residents’ quality of life. Care Dine With Me is free to enter and could bag your care home the top prize of £5,000.
To be in with a chance of winning this year’s competition, simply submit a recipe that best demonstrates the nutritional ethos of your care home. It could be, for example, a dish that can be adapted for all residents, no matter their dietary requirements; a recipe passed on by a resident that’s become a home favourite; a dish the residents can help make; or perhaps a meal that uses fresh produce grown and picked by residents on site.
Explain why you’ve chosen that particular recipe and how it benefits your residents, and include a photograph of the dish. Entries can be submitted via the Kerrymaid website www.kerrymaid.com/care-dine-with-me-2018, or by emailing email@example.com.
After all entries have been reviewed, five finalists will be invited to present their ‘whole food, whole care’ approach to Kerrymaid’s panel of expert judges, including seasoned Care Dine With Me judges Sue Dunk and Matt Dodge, along with 2017 Care Dine With Me winner Debbie McCormack from Hampden House as well as representatives from Kerrymaid and Bidfood on 3rd October at The Orchard Hotel in Nottingham (next to the NACC Training & Development Forum). Finalists can choose how to best represent their catering offer – perhaps by evidencing food-related activities or explaining in more detail how the menu is formulated to enhance the wellbeing of each and every resident in the home.
Last year’s winner Debbie McCormack impressed the judges with her willingness to meet residents’ requests, her passion for creating exciting dishes that can be enjoyed by all – including those on texture-modified diets – and her introduction of the Dine with the Team initiative. Said Debbie: “I wasn’t expecting to win at all! It’s good recognition of what we do here as a team.”
All the finalists, as well as the eventual winner, will be featured in Care Home Catering.
