Frome Nursing Home supports the Fair Frome Food Bank
Donations came from across the home, with team members and families keen to support others in the community during the busy winter period
In the days leading up to Christmas, the team at Frome Nursing Home put their time to good use by collecting donations to pass on to the Fair Frome Food Bank, which is committed to helping local people who are finding things a little tougher, especially during the festive season.
The donations were collected by Nigel, a volunteer from Fair Frome Food Bank, who visited Frome Nursing Home to pick up the generously filled boxes. Contributions came from across the home, with team members and families keen to support others in the community during the busy winter period.
The collection comprised a thoughtful mix of everyday food items, toiletries and a few festive treats. Each donation went back into the local community, helping the food bank to continue its vital work supporting individuals and families who need a little extra help, particularly over the colder months.
The collection was organised by Jacqui, the home’s receptionist, who has a long-standing connection to this kind of work. Before joining Frome Nursing Home, Jacqui spent many years working with children and families in children’s services and saw first-hand the level of need that exists, especially around Christmas time.
“It’s something that’s very close to my heart,” Jacqui explains. “I’ve seen how much of a difference food banks make and how hard the volunteers work. With my retirement coming up in January, it felt important to make sure we did the collection again this year.”
Nigel was keen to pass on his thanks during the visit. He remembered the home from last year’s collection and asked for his appreciation to be shared with everyone who had donated, recognising the continued support shown by Frome Nursing Home.
Activities such as this reflect how the home stays connected to the wider community, through simple, practical acts that mirror everyday life. Bringing people together to support others helps keep those community ties strong, reminding everyone that living or working at Frome Nursing Home remains an integral part of the community.
