Nominations are now invited for Care Home Catering Awards 2026!
Designed to recognise excellence in all aspects of care catering, the Care Home Catering Awards are free to enter and entrants can nominate themselves or others in five categories
At a time when food science is continually evolving to reveal more and more startling facts about the connection between the food we eat and our physical and mental health, care caterers are increasingly being acknowledged as amongst the most skilled and resourceful culinary professionals.
This is because those working in care kitchens are now expected to incorporate all of this new and emerging information into their menu planning, while also ensuring that every meal provides the levels of nutrition recommended by the British Dietetic Association (BDA) in its Care Home Digest.
However, producing food that hits the requisite taste, nutritional and presentation targets, is now no longer considered enough,.as in addition to this, care caterers also need to take account of every resident’s individual cultural, religious and taste preferences, together with the needs of those who are living with conditions such as dementia, diabetes, dysphagia, ceoliac disease, food allergies and those following various medically indicated dietary regimes too. This is no mean feat, especially when you consider that they are serving three meals every day, plus drinks and snacks.
Happily, care caterers deliver all this and more with a dedication and passiion that is truly inspuring. Accordingly, the annual Care Home Catering Awards, have been designed to recognise and celebrate the amazing endeavours of those who strive so hard to provide the best possible dining experiences for older people living in care settings.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 competition and care caterers are invited to nominate either themselves or colleagues in one or more of the following categories:
- Independent Care Caterer of the Year
- Group Care Home Caterer of the Year
- Care Home Catering Team of the Year
- Chef of the Year Award
- The Above and Beyond Special Award
The winners in each category will receive a splendid award and will also feature within Care Home Catering magazine and on its social media channels.
The closing date for nominations is 19th June, 2026
Entry to the Care Home Catering Awards is completely free of charge and you can enter as many categories as you wish.
