APETITO’S NEW MEALS TO CELEBRATE VEGANUARY
Apetito has launched nutritionally balanced meals in order to support benefits of plant-based alternatives
Apetito has launched nutritionally balanced meals in order to support the benefits of plant-based alternatives, on top of the Jackfruit options they already have.
Apetito’s in-house dieticians and chefs have come up with a new range of meals, including shepherd’s pie, a spring vegetable medley, and a Thai red curry, all vegan-friendly.
“Whether for environmental, ethical or health reasons, we have seen a shift in the dietary needs of residents in care homes as more are moving away from regularly eating meat,” says Richard Woodward, general manager of Care Homes at Apetito. “We also see the positive impacts that swapping out some meat-based meals for plant-based can have on the environment and feel passionately as a business about driving sustainable change.”
With 2-3% of the population now sustaining vegetarian or vegan diets, all dietary requirements can be catered for in care homes with the release of the inclusive range.
Vegan diets have been proven by the British Dietetics Associations to lower a risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and can still provide all the nutrients and protein needed in a balanced diet.
