Hatherleigh Nursing Home hosts a summer BBQ celebration

Residents, their friends and relatives and the care team all enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the home’s strong sense of community

The residents at the Oakhampton-based Hatherleigh Nursing Home recently welcomed their relatives and friends to an all-day community celebration in the summer sunshine.

The event, which was conveniently timed to encompass National Ice Cream Day, kicked off in the afternoon when the home’s big BBQ was fired up, filling the air with the mouthwatering aroma of grilled meats and vegetables and there was a lively and convivial atmosphere, as everyone gathered  to enjoy the delicious food and good company.

The fun continued with the arrival of Cold N Rolled, a family run business that specialises in the production of uniquely crafted ice cream desserts. Everyone enjoyed watching the demonstration of the desserts being made,as well as sampling the endless flavours and toppings available!

Maintenance team, Dave and Jamie, hand-built an impressive tiki bar from scratch, crafting every detail with care and precision, while the rest of the care team decorated it with suitably tropical colours and visitors took turns taking photos with loved ones in front of the the comical beach scenes.

All in all, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for relatives, the care team and residents to unite and celebrate the strong sense of community that thrives within the care  home’s walls.
