The NACC unveils programme for the Training and Development Forum

The event will take place at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on 2nd-3rd October and culminate in a gala dinner and awards presentation

The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) will once again return to the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on 2nd – 3rd October, for the NACC Training & Development Forum 2024*.

Following last year’s successful move to a two-day event, the Forum offers a wide range of keynote speakers, training workshops, live cookery demonstrations, meet-the-buyer sessions, exhibition viewing and networking.

This year’s programme, with the strapline of Aspire l Empower l Innovate, reflects the issues that are topical within the care sector today, including sustainability, recruitment and retention and accordingly, a range of influential speakers and business leaders have been lined up to offer the audience valuable insights into the latest trends and developments within the sector.

The Forum will also include a full briefing on the recently published British Dietetic Association (BDA) Care Home Digest, which was written in collaboration with the NACC, plus a session on menu planning, which is designed to dovetail with this new guide.

Other talks will centre around the future of care services and what will they will look like in the years to come, the needs of the future workforce and the challenges that may arise when encouraging Gen Z to engage in a worthwhile career. Sustainability and food waste are also topics that will remain high on the agenda and a number of leading speakers have been lined up to address the delegates.

In addition, as dementia, hydration and the rise of diabetes are all important aspects in care environments, there will be workshops and talks that will specifically address these important topics, whilst the CQC Single Assessment Framework will provide clarity for those who need to understand how Regulation 14 and meeting the nutritional needs of all residents affects their business.

Following on from the successful D-Day Landings anniversary, delegates will hear all about the Veteran Friendly Framework and how the appropriate support can be offered to veterans living in a care home.

Commenting on the programme, Neel Radia, Chair of the National Association of Care Catering says: “The Training and Development Forum always forms the pinnacle of the Care Sector’s year and I am delighted with the wide range of topics and experts we have been able to bring together for this year’s event..

“During these challenging times, we fully understand how difficult it is for our members to take two days away from their place of work and so it is increasingly important that we offer them the opportunity to listen to the best speakers while also providing them with the opportunity to network with their colleagues, so that they can share their experiences with like-minded professionals.

“We will also be taking the time to celebrate those unsung heroes from the Care Sector with the NACC Awards as well as crowning our 2024 Care Chef of the Year at the gala dinner which will take place on the second evening of the event.  I would encourage everyone who has an interest in quality care catering to attend the Forum.”
