apetito Launches Festive Menu for Care Home Residents
The new options include Christmas meals specially designed for those following gluten-free, plant-based and IDDSI Level 4, 5 and 6 diets
As the countdown to Christmas begins, a leading UK supplier of care home meals has unveiled its brand-new festive menu, which is filled with warming dishes and delicious desserts for residents to enjoy.
Richard Woodward, general manager of Care Homes at apetito declares himself as delighted to be bringing festive joy to mealtimes with its “Taste of Christmas” menu. He says: “We understand the importance of celebrating the festive period with delicious food, which is why our menu is thoughtfully designed to bring traditional flavours and joy to your residents – making each meal a memorable experience.
“Not only does each dish offer delicious taste, but our team of expert chefs, dietitians and nutritionists ensure it also provides balanced nutrition.
“We’re also proud to be expanding our texture modified offering this year to provide residents with a safe, delicious and nutritious meal. We hope that our inclusive selection helps to reassure those living with dysphagia that they too can dine with dignity and enjoy a traditional Christmas meal with their loved ones.”
To bring the magic of Christmas to mealtimes, apetito’s new main meal selection includes redcurrant chicken casserole, which has all the flavours of a true winter warmer and caters for residents requiring a gluten-free diet. The second main dish is a seasonal chickpea and apricot tagine with a pumpkin seed crumble on top, providing a meat-free alternative for residents who have opted for a plant-based diet.
And for residents with a sweet tooth, apetito has launched two festive choices to wrap up their Christmas meal. For a more traditional offering, residents can enjoy premium Christmas pudding, which is perfect for serving with custard, or alternatively, they can sample a brand-new indulgent hot chocolate brownie.
These limited-edition dishes are also joined by a selection of returning customer favourites, such as sliced turkey in gravy, broccoli, cauliflower and Stilton crumble, pigs in blankets and sticky toffee pudding.
Believing that everyone should taste the joy of Christmas without compromise, apetito has also introduced a range of texture-modified festive favourites that are both safe and nutritious for those living with dysphagia. For the first time ever, its Specialist Nutrition range offers a two-course Christmas meal across all its IDDSI Level 4, 5, 6 ranges, thus expanding on its previous offering and providing even more inclusivity this holiday season.
This includes main meals of a Level 4 turkey with stuffing and a turkey in an orange and redcurrant gravy option in both Levels 5 and 6. Brand-new to the range this year is a mince pie dessert in Level 5, and a mince pie and custard in Level 6, allowing residents living with swallowing difficulties to finish off with a traditional Christmas treat. Those requiring a Level 4 diet can also indulge in a spiced pudding and vanilla sauce, packed full of seasonal flavours.
