Hatherleigh Nursing Home celebrates Culture, Community, and Cuisine
The home’s Diwali celebration featured a vibrant spread of traditional Indian dishes which residents enjoyed in in the specially decorated dining room
A Devon-based care home recently celebrated Diwali in an inclusive event that brought residents together with the home’s dedicated team to experience the richness of Indian cuisine and culture.
The celebration at Hatherleigh Nursing Home, in Okehampton, featured a vibrant and flavourful spread of traditional Indian dishes that were prepared by team members Gurjeet and Jisho. The menu included chicken biryani, crispy veg manchurian, chilli cauliflower, veg fried rice, vermicelli puddin, and refreshing curd salad. This selection enabled everyone to sample authentic flavours and to celebrate the essence of Diwali through food and shared experiences.
The Hatherleigh team transformed the home’s dining room with bursts of colour and light and the decorations helped to create a memorable and immersive experience for the team members who celebrate Diwali, with their colleagues and resients so that everyone could enjoy and embrace this beautiful tradition together.
Team Member Faye reports: “It was great, and residents really tucked into all the dishes on offer and relished the opportunity to take part in the festivities.”
