HC-One residents sample scrumptious festive fare

The company held a Development Day event, with teams from Bidfood and EF-group, where HC-One’s culinary team and residents sampled a selection of festive fare

The culinary team and residents living in the care homes of major UK care provider HC-One, participated in a Christmas Development Day on Monday,11th  November, together with teams from Bidfood and EF-group at Bidfood’s Customer Experience Centre in Slough.

Attendees got into the festive spirit by donning Christmas hats and jumper, with four HC-One residents, includng two residents from Pendleton Court Care Home in Salford, Manchester and two residents from the company's Newlands Care Home in Stockport, Cheshire participaating in the event.

 Chris Bonner, HC One's executive chef and nutrition and hydration lead and Mark Meacham, head of catering and housekeeping support services at HC-One, also attended. The event began with a warm welcome, followed by an overview of the culinary agenda for the day ahead, and also included a one-minute silence in honour of Remembrance Day.

 Bidfood, which supplies food to HC-One’s care homes, presented the delicious dishes that are due to become a part of HC-One care homes’ Christmas menus f this year. These comprised a selection of starters, mains, desserts, canapes and buffet items, including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options.

 The residents then enjoyed a food tasting session, where they sampled the delicious festive delicacies on offer and shared their thoughts and feedback with the culinary team to help shape HC-One Christmas final menu.

 

   

 

Commenting on the day Mark Meacham, says: “The Christmas Development Day was a great success. I’d like to thank everyone involved, including our food suppliers, Bidfood and EF-group for providing such excellent and informative sessions.

 “It’s crucial for us to ensure that our residents receive nutritionally balanced winter meals to keep their immune system strong and healthy so that they can fight off any winter illnesses. This event provided an opportunity to engage and listen to our residents, as well a recognising the hard work and dedication of some of our fantastic colleagues who play such a vital role in keeping our residents properly norished.

 “It was a joy to hear the residents' feedback, which we will be able to incorporate into our Christmas menus this year to create delicious festive dishes that they will enjoy.”
