THE POWER OF PROGRESSION - the first two speakers are unveiled
The event will feature eight speakers, all of whom will address the issues currently facing care caterers, a dedicated exhibition and the culmination of the Care Home Catering Awards 2025

The 2025 edition of the Care Home Catering Forum will take place on Thursday 5th June, when the event returns once again to Farmers & Fletchers Hall in London’s Barbican.
With content specially designed to appeal to those involved in all aspects of care catering, it will run concurrently with a dedicated exhibition where delegates can discover the latest products and innovations some of the industry’s leading suppliers.
The Forum will feature eight speakers, all of whom will be discussing some of the most pressing issues currently facing the care catering sector.
They will include regular Care Home Catering columnist Rachael Masters, a consultant dietitian and the founder of Focus on Undernutrition. Rachael, who has a first-class honours degree in nutrition and dietetics from Surrey University and a MSc distinction in clinical leadership and research from Newcastle University, has specialised in the nutritional needs of the elderly throughout her 29-year career.
She developed Focus on Undernutrition, an online practical training course for care catering staff who are tasked with menu planning and special diets.
In her session, Rachael will explain how care caterers can implement the nutritional guidelines laid out in the Care Home Digest, which was launched by the British Dietetic Association last June, in as practical a way as possible.
Joining Rachael at the podium will be Jamie Clews, Key Account Manager at Metcalfe Catering Equipment.
With nearly three decades of culinary experience under his belt, Jamie Clews has built a remarkable career in the food preparation equipment sector. Starting as a chef, he honed his skills in fine dining, large-scale event catering, and intimate gastro sites. Over a 15-year journey, Jamie's culinary expertise expanded as he ventured into freelancing, cooking for the film industry and the care sector.
He fell in love with the hospitality industry when he started as a pot washer in a local hotel at 14, working his way up the culinary ladder to work in some amazing places alongside fantastic people. Jamie soon looked at the ingredients being used and was shocked by the amount that was being wasted and the consequent impact on both the environment and overall profitability.
Accordingly, in his session, Jamie will be providing an insight into the issues around food waste, as well as offering tips and tricks that will help care caterers to reduce it, using the information culled from case studies carried out during the last 12 months at various care homes.
A further highlight of the Forum will be the announcement of the winners of the 2025 Care Home Catering Awards in five categories:
- Chef of the Year
- Group Care Home Caterer of the Year
- Independent Care Home Caterer of the Year
- Care Home Catering Team of the Year
- The Above and Beyond Special Award
