THE POWER OF PROGRESSION – More new speakers are unveiled

Kerry Southern Reason, the founder and CEO of Care Home Interiors and Amanda Woodvine the chief executive of Vegetarian for Life will be joining the speaker line-up at the Care Home Catering Forum

The latest speakers at the 2025 edition of the Care Home Catering Forum, which will take place on Thursday 5th June at Farmers & Fletchers Hall in London’s Barbican, have now been unveiled.

Kerry Southern-Reason and Amanda Woodvine will be joining a 10-strong speaker line-up that already includes Richard Ayres of Care England, Mark Glenister from The Burnt Chef Project, Jamie Clews of Metcalf Catering Equipment and Rachael Masters of Focus on Undernutrition as speakers at the event.

Kerry Southern-Reason the founder and CEO of the Care Home Interiors Group, is a passionate advocate for improving the lives of care home residents through thoughtful and impactful design. Since establishing her business in 2001, Kerry has combined exceptional craftsmanship, in-house manufacturing, and traditional handcrafting methods to transform care home interiors into welcoming, functional, and homely spaces.

A trailblazer in dementia interior design, Kerry has earned widespread recognition for her expertise in creating environments that prioritise the comfort, dignity, and independence of those living with dementia. Her innovative and compassionate designs have garnered numerous prestigious awards in categories such as dementia design and best interior design, thus reflecting her commitment to excellence.

Kerry’s advocacy for better care home environments extends beyond her design work. She frequently shares her knowledge and expertise at industry shows, events, and networking meetings, championing the transformative impact of well-designed interiors on the wellbeing of residents and care teams alike.

She will discuss how care homes can provide a dining space that will enhance the dining experience at the Forum.

Amanda Woodvine is the chief executive of Vegetarian for Life (VfL), the UK’s leading charity supporting older vegetarians and vegans. With a background in governance, policy development, and community engagement, Amanda has over 15 years of senior leadership experience, including roles as a trustee and chief executive.

A seasoned public speaker, Amanda regularly presents at major health and social care events. She is also a licensed Talking Mats trainer, supporting individuals with communication difficulties. Passionate about improving care standards, she advocates for the growing number of vegetarian and vegan residents in care.

Amanda’s presentation will centre around the findings of a study carried out by the University of Swansa which investigated how the nutritional needs of vegetarians an Vegans living in residential care homes can be properly met.

Kerry and Amanda will join Mark Glenister who will explain how kitchen staff can mitigate some of the stresses and strains that occur in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment and Richard Ayres who will reference the recommendations made in the White Paper regarding dysphagia management in care setting, that Care England published before Christmas.

In addition, Jamie Clews will tackle the thorny topic of food waste in care homes and Rachael Masters will explain how the recommendations in the Care Home Digest that was launched by the British Dietetic Association last June, can be successfully implemented.

The event will also feature a dedicated exhibition where some of the leading suppliers of healthcare products and services will be displaying their latest innovations.

A further highlight of the Forum will be the announcement of the winners of the 2025 Care Home Catering Awards in five categories:

  • Chef of the Year
  • Group Care Home Caterer of the Year
  • Independent Care Home Caterer of the Year
  • Care Home Catering Team of the Year
