A Devon care home has announcee its 5* Food and Hygiene rating. This rating, awarded by the Food Standards Agency, reflects the home’s commitment to maintaining exemplary standards of cleanliness and food safety for the individuals in itscare.
This rating comes as the Sundial Care Home, which is located in Sidmouth, celebrates the full refurbishment of its kitchen, which is regarded as the heart of the home. While it services the entire community, residents have the choice to use their own kitchenette, which each ‘household’ has, providing them with the independence to prepare a snack or a drink whenever they wish. Sundial has 37 bedrooms, but every resident is part of a household designed to feel like home. Depending on their cognitive journey, they live in a supportive environment that meets their individual needs, surrounded by familiar comforts and a sense of belonging.
As part of Sundial’s household model of care, mealtimes are a shared experience, which brings family and team members together. Those who wish to join can enjoy meals in a homely setting that feels just like sitting around the table with family - chatting, sharing and connecting.
Liz Thompson, Care Home Manager comments: "I'm so delighted for the team and our family members, the newly refurbished kitchen allows us to make our mealtime experience even more special. Mealtimes are about more than just food; they bring people together and create a strong sense of connection.”
Sundial Care Home, rated Outstanding by the CQC, encourages each resident’s independence, respects personal choices and life experiences. By understanding their unique journey, the Sundial team creates a home where individuals have the choice to live in a way that feels right for them.
