Monmouth Care Home hosts Pizza Party in Pillars Restaurant
The Gibraltar Nursing Home opted for a full-on Italian theme, with checkered tablecloths, takeaway pizza boxes and red, white, and green balloons

A Monmouth-based care home recently hosted a pizza party for its residents, which saw them rolling out their dough and adding their own toppings, before baking their pizzas and enjoying an afternoon of socialising and fun.
The Gibraltar Nursing Home opted for a full-on Italian theme in the home's Pillars Restaurant, complete with checkered tablecloths, takeaway pizza boxes decorated with the Pillars’ restaurant logo, together with red, white, and green balloons. Bowls full of toppings and cheese were laid out for residents to use on their pizzas, which were then baked in the home’s pizza oven. The home’s care teams also got involved, wearing chef’s hats and aprons while rolling out dough and helping residents when needed.
Verity Walmsley, Home Manager reports: “It was wonderful to see so many people come together for this event. Having the home's Pillars Restaurant serve as a social hub for our home fosters a strong sense of community. We look forward to the many similar events we have planned for the future”.
The Pillars Restaurant, which also welcomes resident’s family and friends, enables everyone to enjoy their meals in an authentic restaurant-style environment, and further exemplifies Gibraltar Nursing Home's commitment to encouraging a continuation of life and sense of normalcy for the people living there. By offering opportunities for residents and their relatives to share activities and meals, the home supports residents in maintaining the routines and connections that are most meaningful to them.
