Unleash your imagination with Premier Foods Foodservice

Premier Foods Foodservice is inviting school caterers and care home residents to unleash their creativity in a new competition designed to spark fun and adventure through some of the nation’s best loved dessert brands.  

Scott Emmett, education and healthcare lead, Premier Foods Foodservice, explains: "Unleash Your Imagination offers a fantastic opportunity to inspire school caterers and care residents, sparking fun and adventure through two of our most popular foodservice brands, Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly. We’re excited to see all the incredible dessert recipes and to read all the magical stories and poems, while taking the time to reflect on how our brands bring joy to people’s lives.”  

The competition is inviting school chefs to invent their own fun and adventurous, showstopping dessert, while also engaging care home residents in a creative and interactive storytelling activity, celebrating their cherished memories and emotions tied to these beloved dessert brands. 

Two competition challenge packs – one for education and one for care – are now available for caterers to download via the Premier Foods Foodservice website. Each pack provides a competition brief and a range of Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly recipes. And to help caterers get creative in the kitchen, the education challenge pack features expert advice and top tips from award-winning school chef Holly Charnock, while the care challenge pack is fronted by James Clear, hospitality director at Aria Care. As Unleash Your Imagination ambassadors, the duo will join the judging panel alongside Premier Foods Foodservice experts.  

Holly Charnock, chef at Sefton Council, Woodlands Primary, comments: “Angel Delight and McDougalls Jelly are playful dessert brands and thus a favourite amongst school caterers. They serve as the perfect inspiration for chefs to get creative in the kitchen. Our new competition offers the perfect platform for school chefs to showcase their creativity, ultimately sparking fun and adventure through the power of food.” 

James Clear, hospitality director, Aria Care, adds: “Care chefs work tirelessly to ensure residents receive the nourishment they need, while also fostering a positive mealtime environment. Through Premier Foods’ new competition, I’m excited to help care homes across the UK integrate fun, creative storytelling sessions into their residences. Above all else, we want to get residents to have wonderful conversations and reflect on cherished memories tied to both Angel Delight and jelly.” 

To complete their entries, school caterers must: 

1. Download the education pack via the Premier Foods Foodservice website. 
2. Purchase a minimum of two cases of any McDougalls jelly (2x3.5kg) or Angel Delight product (12x600g or 6x600g) from any UK catering or foodservice wholesaler, in depot or online. This can be one case of each brand or two of the same. 
3. Create one showstopping dessert featuring any McDougalls Jelly or Angel Delight product. 
4. Submit a clear photo of the resulting dessert in both portrait and landscape, the recipe, and a receipt of the wholesale purchase to [email protected]. 

To complete their entries, care home caterers must: 

1. Download the care home pack via the Premier Foods Foodservice website. 
2. Purchase a minimum of two cases of any McDougalls jelly (2x3.5kg) or Angel Delight product (12x600g or 6x600g) from any UK catering or foodservice wholesaler, in depot or online. This can be one case of each brand or two of the same. 
3. Facilitate a storytelling session for residents to share their wonderful memories. 
4. Submit the chosen resident story and a receipt of the wholesale purchase to [email protected]. 

Entries for Unleash Your Imagination close on Friday, 2nd May at 5pm. One winning school and one winning care home will receive a special afternoon tea experience, hosted by Premier Foods Foodservice in June 2025, featuring a delightful selection of savoury and sweet treats, plus a range of different activities.
