Industry-wide supplement returns for second issue

The second edition of Alternative to Mainstream, the bi-annual supplement from H2O Publishing, documents key operational areas

A free magazine for caterers, hospitality and foodservice operators has returned for its second issue, after launching in autumn 2023.

Alternative to Mainstream, the bi-annual supplement from H2O Publishing, documents key operational areas that may once have seemed a little alternative, but are now well and truly a dominant part of contemporary consumer expectations.

With in-depth features and exclusive content, the magazine is distributed for free to pioneering foodservice and hospitality and catering operations, which are looking to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to modern trading. It can also be read online.

In its launch issue in 2023, the overall theme of the title was ‘menus’. In its follow-up edition, the angle has moved onto ‘operations’ within contemporary businesses.

While Alternative to Mainstream once again homes in on the guest perception of each included subject, issue two also includes what this means for operations within restaurants, cafés, pubs and any other hospitality outfit, particularly when it comes to sections around technology, carbon reduction and waste management.

“We’re delighted to publish our second issue of Alternative to Mainstream,” says Tristan O’Hana, editorial director of H2O Publishing. “By producing an edition twice a year, we’re able to keep tabs on those critical categories that are forever evolving and increasing in importance when it comes to what operators should factor into their businesses. From vegan food and ethical purchasing, to mindful drinking and technology, the pages are packed with the latest take on why these areas mean so much to the modern-day consumer.”

The next issue of Alternative to Mainstream will be published in November 2024.
