Home hosts French summer garden party
A care home has hosted a French themed garden party.
Residents enjoyed a lunch of cheese and wine when care hoem staff organised a French themed garden party.
Care UK's Blossomfield Grange, in Solihull, marked Bastille Day with the event earlier this month. Starting the day in French fashion, the home’s head chef organised pastries and coffee in the home’s bistro, before later preparing a French lunch which included a selection of cheeses, olives, salad, grapes and wine. The residents enjoyed the lunch in the home’s garden, which had been adorned with French flags.
For resident Barbara, who used to live in France, the event provided the perfect opportunity to reminisce about her time spent in the country. Another resident, Jean, commented: “It was lovely to have the cheese and wine event in the garden – the warm weather felt like we were actually in France!”
Anne Gaffney, general manager at Blossomfield Grange, said: “Setting sail to the garden, we really made the most of the recent sunshine with our fantastic garden party. Our French-themed event created the perfect setting to encourage residents to reminisce – it was fantastic to hear their stories about their favourite family holidays spent travelling around the world.
"Our decorations, costumes and food certainly made the experience even more immersive; the team really did a fantastic job bringing the South of France to Solihull. We look forward to creating more memorable and imaginative activities for the residents to enjoy this summer. Long may the sunshine remain!”
