Carpigiani hits sweet spot in Manchester
Following the continued success of its Gelato University, Carpigiani UK has announced the opening of its brand-new development kitchen in Manchester’s Food Sorcery in Didsbury
One of the global leaders in ice cream equipment is bringing its world-class equipment – and the tastiest university around – to Manchester.
Following the continued success of its Gelato University, Carpigiani UK has announced the opening of its brand-new development kitchen in Manchester’s Food Sorcery in Didsbury, which will be fully equipped with Carpigiani’s equipment to help caterers to master the art, craft, and science of artisan gelato. The new site will open its doors in November 2024.
Commenting on the new development kitchen, Paul Ingram, managing director of Carpigiani UK, says: “We’ve had growing interest from customers and prospects in the North for more local courses and a showroom and, in order to underline our commitment to current and new businesses, we are delighted to be opening a kitchen in Manchester that they can visit and use.
"This Is a really exciting partnership with Food Sorcery. As an institute that hosts a variety of cooking classes and events centred around culinary innovation, we knew that it would be a fantastic pairing for us.”
Bringing with it Carpigiani’s industry knowledge and expertise, the new development kitchen will host the University’s four courses, including an introduction to gelato, the basic course, the intermediate course, and the master course – as well as its popular soft serve consultancy and one-to-one bespoke sessions to accommodate all skill levels and culinary ambitions. The kitchen will also serve up 'Discovery Days' that visitors can attend to learn more about Carpigiani's patented technology, the range of equipment and services on offer and tips and tricks for creating recipes with the team's development chefs.
With sites already located in Hereford, London, and Glasgow, this is the fourth development kitchen to be opened in the UK.
To celebrate its opening, Carpigiani has added a new date to its Gelato Challenge, which will be hosted at the new venue. This will offer a once-in-a-lifetime chance for a gelato chef to represent the UK in Italy at the Gelato Festival World Masters Championship and scoop the title of World’s Best Gelato Master. The opportunity includes an all-expenses-paid trip to Bologna, Italy. The competition is free to enter, and applicants for the Manchester heat, which will take place on 12th November, can apply via Carpigiani's website: www.carpigiani.co.uk/gelato-challenge-2024.
