PJ CARE VISIT LE GAVROCHE
Care staff from PJ care have recently dined at Le Gavroche to inspire production of Michelin-starred food
Care staff from PJ care have recently dined at Le Gavroche to inspire production of Michelin-starred food.
“Our Catering Manager has a background in Michelin starred restaurants, so we agreed that striving towards being the first care provider to achieve a Michelin star was an ambition we should aim for,” says Neil Russell, chairman of PJ Care.
PJ Care runs three care homes that provides care for early onset dementia, alongside neurological conditions and brain injuries. Six of its staff sampled a seven-course menu based around the restaurant’s French cuisine in the Chef’s Library.
“Our residents deserve good quality, flavourful food,” adds Russell. “Mealtimes can be the highlight of the day for people with limited abilities and we aim to make them as good as we possibly can.”
As well as sampling food, Michel Roux Jr joined them and encouraged their plans.
“The food was stunning; the intensity of the seasoning and flavour, with the cheese souffle being one of the standout dishes. Michel Roux Jr was so supportive and was more than happy to give us hints and tips to follow our dreams,” says Darren Klein, catering manager for PJ Care.
