Care home group launches chef contest

Runwood Homes has launched its Care Chef Competition.

A care provider has launched its Care Chef Competition, inviting its chefs, cooks and kitchen assistants to submit their top dishes.

Runwood Homes' group hospitality manager Chris Williams has launched the contest for those working in the operator's catering teams.

Those keen to take part are invited to email a picture of their signature dish to Williams and James Cotton, group development chef. It can be something they love to cook and that residents love to eat, along with a brief description of why the dish was chosen. It can be either a main course or a dessert.

Entries will close on 1 April, and the best six entries will be selected to enter a live final at Billingsgate Fish Market in London, where the finalists will have 60 minutes to prepare and cook their dish and serve it to special judges. The winner will receive a prize, an award and the dish will become a Runwood Certified Dish and feature on menus across the country.

The final will also include a tour of the market with a fish expert, a Ready Steady Cook-off with Williams and Cotton and an overnight stay in London.
