Bristol-based Care Home opens new residential wing

A Bristol-based care home, has opened a new residential wing following a major refurbishment, significantly increasing its capability to care forolder people in Kingswood and the surrounding area.

Fairview Court Care Home in Kingswood, Bristol, which provides high-quality residential, dementia, respite and nursing care, has increased its capacity by nearly a quarter (23%), moving from 66 to 81 beds.  The opening of the new wing was attended by the Labour candidate for Kingswood, Damien Egan, alongside over 30 residents of Fairview Court and their friends and families. 

Residents Molly Saunders and Yvonne Evans who lived as neighbours in the original space, and who have forged a long-standing friendship at Fairview Court, cut the ribbon to officially open the new wing.

The extensive refurbishment was heavily impacted by the Covid pandemic, however the completed project has now added an additional 15 spacious new rooms, all with ensuite facilities.

Pyela Mwale, care home manager at Fairview Court, comments: “We are delighted to have opened our new wing at Fairview Court Care Home, which will increase the provision of high-quality elderly care for people in the Kingswood area and beyond.   

“This extension was a serious undertaking, and like most projects of its scale it has had its ups-and-downs, but we couldn’t be more thrilled by how beautiful the new rooms and facilities are and we’re really looking forward to welcoming new residents to our home.”

Damien Egan, former MP for Kingswood and current Labour candidate for Kingswood, adds: “I was so pleased to attend the opening of Fairview Court’s new residential wing. 

“It was a pleasure to meet so many residents and their families and this modern extension will provide superb accommodation for those requiring residential or nursing care now and in the future.  It is a very welcome addition to the residential care home capacity in Kingswood.”
